MAKE YOUR DAY!

An Exploration of the 'Song of the Day' From the Book of Psalms

We inaugurate Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year, with the moving chant of Kol Nidrei. The words of Kol Nidrei are recited to the tune of a haunting melody in a solemn and inspiring atmosphere. But when we examine the content of the words we discover that it is simply a legalistic formula of releasing ourselves from vows we may inadvertently make during the upcoming year.

Why in the world are we engaging in this legal ritual during the first moments of Yom Kippur; setting the tone for this most meaningful day? Why is it said with such solemnity and feeling?

THE MYSTERY OF KOL NIDREI

Sunday, October 9 at 11:00 AM
at the Jewish Discovery Center - 757 Hopkins Rd. in Williamsville
