JEWISH HISTORY
MYSTICISM IN THE AGE ‍‍‍OF REASON

The Jews of 18th and 19th Century Europe confronted many existential threats. The old fo‍‍‍es of anti-semitism and persecution became particularly virulent and aggressive in this era. Equally dangerous, however, were the forces of "The Enlightenment" and assimilation. Come join us as we explore this challenging phase in our people's history, and discover how Chassidism, a fledgling and largely unknown movement that arose in the 18th century, grew to become the primary intellectual and spiritual force confronting these multiple threats.
